Hiking at Rainier

I'm posting these pictures a little late. We actually took this hike in September. It was such a great hike, so I thought I would post them anyway. The hike was only 5-7 miles (I don't remember exactly), but it took us past 4 lakes and lots of great scenary.

I'm not posting pictures from the hike we did last weekend. Actually it was more of a walk along two beaches. Either way, it was in the pouring down rain. I discovered during this hike that my rain jacket is no longer water proof. I didn't have the camera with me, but even if I did I wouldn't have wanted to bring it out in the rain.

Wow, I think I missed the awesome color of the last lake. Probably because we were almost eaten by muskrats!
To tell a bit of the story, we were looking at the lake and scenery, and nearly walked right into a whole colony of muskrats who were sunning themselves on the rocks by the path. There were adults and juveniles, all scampering around and playing hide and seek from our camera.
On the way back we saw another muskrat at a different location, only this one was HUGE and right on the trail. They look small in the pictures, but they have rather large teeth. We waited for a while, trying to look ominous before it hopped down off the rock and waddled away.
Great hike!
